Just one look at Professor Ashok Pandey’s biography and you quickly get a sense of just how much Professor Pandey enjoys what he does.
He was recently awarded the Life-Time Achievement Award by the International Society for Energy, Environment and Sustainability. The presentation took place during the international conference on Sustainable Energy and Environmental Challenges (SEEC-2017).
A visionary is a leader of excellence who sees what others do not see and who achieves for now and plans for the future. The visionary starts with a clean sheet of paper, and re-imagines the world. Professor Pandey positively impacts different generations, raising other visionaries.
Professor Ashok Pandey is currently with the Center of Innovative and Applied Bioprocessing, Mohali, Punjab, India; he was the former Deputy Director for CSIR’s National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology at Trivandrum, where he headed the Centre for Biofuels and Biotechnology Division. Professor Pandey’s research interests are in bio-based economy for the production of fuels and chemicals. He has over 1,150 publications and communications, which include 16 patents and design copyright, 50 books, 128 book chapters, and 430 original and review papers (h index 80, citations > 26,000).
He is the recipient of many national and international awards and fellowships, including Fellow of International Society for Energy, Environment and Sustainability, National Academy of Science (India), Biotech Research Society, India, and the International Organization of Biotechnology and Bioengineering. He was Chairman of the International Society of Food, Agriculture and Environment, Finland (Food & Health) from 2003-2004. He is Founder President of the Biotech Research Society, India; International Coordinator and General Secretary of International Forum on Industrial Bioprocesses, France, and Chariman of the International Society for Energy, Environment & Sustainability and Vice-President of All India Biotech Association.
Additionally, Professor Pandey is Editor-in-chief of Bioresource Technology, Honorary Executive Advisors of Journal of Water Sustainability and Journal of Energy and Environmental Sustainability and editorial board member of several international and Indian journals.
One of his recent publications, Algal Green Chemistry: Recent Progress in Biotechnology presents emerging information on green algal technology for the production of diverse chemicals, metabolites, and other products of commercial value. This book describes and emphasizes the emerging information on green algal technology, with a special emphasis on the production of diverse chemicals, metabolites, and products from algae and cyanobacteria.
Another is Life-Cycle Assessment of Biorefineries which discusses the unprecedented growth and development in the emerging concept of a global bio-based economy in which biomass-based biorefineries have attained center stage for the production of fuels and chemicals.
