The Value of Books: Tell Us Your Story

value-of-booksA book is a gift you can open again and again. – Garrison Keillor

It’s no secret that we at Elsevier absolutely love books. After all, we are a global publisher comprised of book worms from around the globe. It is our mission – and a huge point of pride – to fill the world with the most informative and useful writing in order to advance the numerous fields of science and technology.

About the Program:

The Value of Books initiative is an opportunity for you, Elsevier authors, to share a personal narrative or story on how a particular book or series has influenced you and your career as a researcher, professionally or personally. It’s an opened ended opportunity to tell a story about a book that has had a lasting impression on you and/or sent you down a science and technology path, possibly lending insight or causing that “light bulb” moment that changed the way you approached a problem.

Authors our encouraged to write about how a book changed the way they viewed their research or studies, highlighting specifically what it was about that book that led to a paradigm shift in thinking or approach, all while pointing to anecdotes and events that our readers can relate to. In writing from a personal perspective, it allows our readers to associate our authors with foundational books that they too have likely encountered in their studies, showing just how much impact one book can have.

These stories and personal narratives are a great opportunity to not only share your love of books, but also a great way to position yourself online as an author and thought leader in your field. Further, Elsevier will use this stories in ongoing marketing efforts with librarians, researchers and our online audience members, so that when our readers think Elsevier and books, they’ll also be thinking of you! If this sounds like something you’d like to be a part of, all you have to do is tell us your story – and we’ll find ways to share it with our communities.

Tell us your story!

Do you have a story to tell about a book that transformed your life, work, research or career? Then we’d love to hear about it.

If you’re interested in participating in the Value of Books initiative, please contact our Community Marketing Manager, Stephen Fiedler and he’ll work with you to put a story together, much like these already provided by our authors below.
