Tradeshows & Conferences: Staying Connected with Industry Professionals, Academicians, Researchers, and Scientists

Each year, Elsevier’s Science and Technology Books division exhibits at many conferences around the world.  While we would be honored to participate in every conference across all subject areas, we select venues that best reach our key markets. We carefully evaluate all possible choices to ensure we are contributing to the most important events throughout the year.

Our primary goal in attending conferences is to present our products to a multitude of academicians, researchers, scientists, and professionals in industries where we can make important contributions. We use these events to not only promote recently published, forthcoming, and already existing books and journals, but also to interact with our esteemed authors and editors. Additionally, these events provide us an opportunity to conduct market research when speaking to attendees and experts who are on the forefront of their respective subject areas.

Recently Attended Conferences

We recently attended several events in the Life Sciences arena. The following information will give you a better understanding of the work that goes into promoting the books we represent at these types of conferences.

To fully prepare for these meetings, we collaborated with partners across Elsevier’s business groups, including Cell Press, S&T Journals, Health Science Books, and Health Science Journals in an effort to showcase your research content to more than 37,000 industry individuals.

Each conference featured appropriate audience and market booth graphics, pre-show marketing postcards and/or emails, flyers, books and journals on display, a post-show marketing email campaign, and in some cases, a competition/raffle and giveaway to fully engage the audience. Additionally, we collaborated with our publicity and social media teams to deploy a press release at the start of the conference, utilizing social media outlets such as Facebook & Twitter to ensure constant communication of current events, author presentations, and event pictures, etc.

The American Association for Cancer Research’s(AACR) mission is to prevent and cure cancer through research, education, communication, and collaboration. AACR’s Annual Meeting attendees are laboratory scientists and clinical investigators specializing in all aspects of cancer research, including experimental therapeutics, clinical and translational research, molecular targeted therapies, chemistry, molecular biology and genetics, immunology and immunotherapy, tumor biology, toxicology, and prevention.

Our authors, Stephen Wong and Xiaoyuan Chen, wrote a blog post for SciTech Connect, which included a free chapter: “What’s Next for Personalized Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment?
